Roger Hobbs - Ghostman
I want more! From the opening scene to the final page I didn't put this book down and I'm seriously hoping Roger Hobbs has plans to continue writing this character.
'Jack' is a ghost. A guy that has learned to fly under the radar and become invisible. Only a few people know of his existence and even fewer know how to get in touch with him. When he receives an email at 5am from a previous acquaintance, he realizes it is time to pay back his debt.
From the opening scene of a botched casino robbery, there is no lack of action as 'Jack' is called in to 'clean up the scene'. It takes a man of special skills to stay a half-step ahead of a crime syndicate out to ruin him, while remaining out of the clutches of the FBI. By changing his appearance and voice, with a lot of improvising in tactics, we learn that Jack is a very resourceful individual.
While following Jack's antics in Atlantic City, flashbacks tell the story of how the debt was first incurred, and gives us a look into the creation of 'Ghostman'.
Jack's motto sums up the book in one line, translated from Latin : If you can't reach heaven, raise hell.
Not to be missed! Great action, and a guy you can root for that isn't a knight in shining armor.
